Baby Blue Chickens are Getting Big...

My juvenile group of Blue Laced Red Wyandottes are getting big.

Laverne and Shirley have started to lay now, in addition to Splash.

Just like the Cochins, the Blues combs and wattles get dark red when the pullets start to lay eggs.

I sure do enjoy my beautiful Blue Chickens!

  3. And just how much would it cost to ship a couple of pullets all the way to Oregon? ;-)

  4. I know that when I ship a pair of Cochins jout there, it usually runs about $50.00. The blues are bigger so I would think it would be a bit more. I can check into it if you want me to, Michelle.

Thank you Linda and Forlan ~ I have to admit, if I could only keep one breed of chicken, I'd keep my blues! They are awesome birds. Very calm and curious. Not aggressive towards people or other chickens. And darned pretty to LOOK at! ;-)

  7. They are very beautiful Nancy. I might be interested in getting a couple of pullets from you next spring. We lost a silkie today she just seemed to go off her food for a while and got listless. We have room for 2 more chickens but spring would be better to ship and introduce them after the cold New England weather.

  8. So, excuse me for asking, as I am not a chicken person, do the chickens eat that lovely delicata squash or do they just peck around it?

  9. Ya know, it's funny. A number of people have told me how wonderful that squash is (it was given to me by a friend last Spring). I tried one and found it to be rather flavorless so have been feeding them to my sheep and chickens!
